Tyler enjoys "Winston's Weekend"

Tyler's best buddy, Winston Warren, was christened this Sunday at the Episcopal Church in his hometown of Windsor. We went down Saturday afternoon to help celebrate. Winston's cousin Drew celebrated his birthday at the river in Little Washington Saturday evening, and then the church ceremony for Winston was held Sunday in Windsor. We had a lovely time seeing all of Winston's friends and family. Thank you for including us in your festivities!! We love you all :)

The first picture shows the end of our weekend :P Tyler's role in helping dad brew his beer!!

Tyler with Uncle Drew- we were relieved that Tyler was happy during this meeting (unlike the last when Tyler cried the whole time). Drew's going to be an awesome uncle!!!!

Father's Day Weekend

Tyler is fully recovered from his bad cold and ear infection!! He recovered much quicker than mom, who is still suffering from sinus pressure and a stuffy nose :( We are happy that he is healthy and will be returning to day care on Monday. Big, big thanks to grandma Jackie for coming to take care of Tyler last Wednesday and Thursday so we could return to work.

Tyler had a big weekend- we went to Chapel Hill for Kelly and Justin's wedding. Congratulations to them!!! Tyler did not attend the ceremony (he was napping through it at the hotel), but showed off his good looks and sweet demeanor at the reception. He got to meet lots of mom and dad's friends that had thus far not been able to see him in person.

We had a lovely Father's Day today. I think dad really enjoyed it :) We went to lunch at The Weathervane with grandpa Mark and grandma Jackie. Once we were back in Richmond we enjoyed some light yard work in the nice afternoon weather. Apparently we did good buying dad's father's day gifts!!!! He really liked his watch winder and leather messenger bag for work.

Tyler's first big illness :(

Mom recieved a call from daycare today requesting I come pick up Tyler due to illness and fever. We had known he was fighting a bad cold over the weekend, which was going around at daycare, but didn't realize it was going to worsen today. I left work at noon to get Tyler and took him to the pediatrician. He had a fever of 101.6 (weighs 15lbs 3oz!!). It was determined he has a severe cold (thankfully not RSV or Influenza A, which are going around) and a slight ear infection. Tyler is now on an Albuterol nebulizer to open his airways, Amoxicillian to fight the ear infection, Atavax to lessen his nasal secretions (aka, reduce the snot), and Tylenol to reduce the fever. What a drug cocktail!!! He seems to feel much better shortly after the meds, and gets cranky again as the next round of meds are becoming due. He'll be home from daycare with Grandma Jackie for the next two days (strict orders not to go back for the other babies, though he got it from them!!!). Hopefully (everyone keep their fingers crossed) he'll be better by this weekend for Kelly and Justin's wedding!

Mom holding the face mask for the Albuterol inhaler. Tyler and great-grandma Jackie would make quite the couple together on their nebulizers :P

Weekend Photos

Tyler had a busy weekend full of guests! On Friday, Grandma Jackie came to visit to bring mom a few things. She was also kind enough to bring some new outfits for Tyler and his first pair of sunglasses- the Baby Banz!! Saturday night we had a dinner party with the neighbors, serving mahi and tuna curtesy of the Ocracoke fishing trip- it was a big success!! Tyler had been cranky all afternoon but pulled it together just in time to wow our guests with his awesome, "chill" behavior. We think he just prefers an audience!! Lots of love and attention :) Sunday we were invited to the swimming pool with our neighbors (unfortunately, no pics). Tyler, once again, was on his best behavior and let the adults have a nice afternoon. Now if we could only get rid of his pesky cold (that mom and dad both now have), we'd be in good shape. None of us are very happy campers this work week :(

Tyler's tummy time... getting better, but still doesn't last long!

At lunch with grandma Jackie, shortly after buying dad his first Father's Day gift!

Baby Banz!!

A rare picture with mom

Tyler and dad on the porch before a lovely outside dinner. We're enjoying the patio much more now that the weather is cooperating (if only we could get rid of the mosquitos, which seem to be worse this year than last...).

First Successful Cereal Meal

Despite what the pictures show, this was the first time I offered Tyler rice cereal that he actually swallowed some. The cereal got ALL over him since he still puts his fingers in his mouth at the first opportunity (and then wipes his hands on his face). However, overlooking the mess, I was thrilled that we at last had success!! Tyler is capable of getting food to the back of his mouth and swallowing (at least some of it). Tyler is now 17.5 weeks old, or just over 4 months...

4 Month Birthday-- Tyler learns to "razz"!!

Tyler turns 4 months old today- June 6th (born February 6th). He was in a great mood this morning! He loved his "new" blankie from grandma Linda. It went straight into his mouth!! I'm trying anything to keep his fingers out of his mouth :) Tyler still has no interest in a pacifier except when going to sleep. I don't think he's sucking his fingers (yet), but he's definately exploring and I'm trying to prevent a bad habit. Here are a few pictures of Tyler playing while sitting in his Bumbo chair while I made eggs for breakfast this morning.

Shortly after breakfast Tyler started "talking" up a storm. Tyler just figured out how to "razz", or make noises while vibrating his lips and spitting bubbles. He was enjoying this up until the very end, when it became clear it was nap time. It's his favorite new thing to do and he's been "razzing" all day!

Day trip to Greenville

This morning we were in Greenville and had a coffee date to meet Miss Chloe. Apparently there were early sparks, with Tyler and Chloe really hitting it off :P

Love at first sight!! Chloe definately has the upper hand here!

Chloe taking charge (and Tyler's enjoying every moment)!

And.... the romance was fun while it lasted. Chloe is no longer interested and Tyler is left bewildered. His first introduction to the way of the world :)

Tyler recouperating with dad on the sofa watching tv. Male bonding time!
Tyler is officially 4 months old tomorrow- more to follow!!

Tyler's New Bathtub

Tyler's WAY too big to be getting a bath in the kitchen sink now (though I've been doing it for weeks anyway). I finally bought Tyler a "proper" bathtub so he'll stop hitting his head in the kitchen sink!! Here are the pics of our dry test run to see how the tub would work out. When he gets bigger (can sit up without assistance) we'll remove the lime green divider in the bottom.

Tomorrow after mom's done working we're off to Greenville for a short day trip. Tyler hasn't seen great-grandma Jackie in over 2 months!! Another fun road trip :P

Lunch at the Greek Festival

Tyler went with us to the Greek Festival this weekend, which is just 6 blocks down the street from our house. We actually went twice- for lunch and dinner!! Tyler was awesome and did very well with all the noise and commotion.

At our lunch- you can see the dancers on the stage behind Tyler.

Tyler riding in his stroller like a big boy, minus his car seat!

Resting after the festival in the back yard.

Afternoon nap

Our backyard. The grass is finally coming together, and the back of the house looks great thanks to the hard work of grandpa Mark and uncle Drew. They powerwashed the siding and scrubbed it with bleach a few weekends ago. Thanks to them we're enjoying the outdoors even more :)

4 Month Well-Baby Exam

Today was Tyler's 4 month check-up. He's doing very well in all areas... but we already knew that :-P His motor skills are right on track, though Dr. Winters did encourage us to give him more tummy time (difficult now that he rolls over immediately when put on his stomach) and give him NO television time (huh?). We're trying on both ends, but maybe failing.... Mom and dad are working on it. SO- the exciting information everyone is sitting on the edge of their seat for (ha!):

Height: 25 1/2 inches (75%)
Weight: 14 lbs, 6 oz (50%)
Head: 42 1/2 cm (75%)

Tyler first thing in the morning, before his doctor's appointment.

Tyler after his appointment with his boo-boo bandaids! He once again got two in each leg and one oral vaccine. He was a trouper- not crying NEARLY as much as the 5 year old who went before us who had to be held down by two nurses while he screamed bloody murder. Even Tyler was nervous going after that little boy!! I think he cried just because he learned it was apparantly the thing to do in such a situation!! Also notice the wet shoulder- this was shortly after Tyler projective vomitted (note- vomit, not spit-up) ALL over mom and himself. What a mess!!

Oscar also had a doctor's appointment today at 8:30 this morning (yes, mom was very busy). Poor Oscar has been skinny for months now, which we attributed to jealousy over the addition of Tyler. I finally took him in to get a weight check- he's 9 1/2 pounds (much lighter than Tyler!), and way too thin for his long frame. We learned that he has two teeth with "cervical lesions", analogous to human rotten teeth. Poor Oscar has been in pain for months apparently (vet says it really hurts!). He's now on antibiotics and kitty narcotics and is going in for surgery to get the teeth removed on Wednesday. Poor Oscar!! (note he has a boo-boo bandaid to rival Tyler's).

Tyler and daddy's favorite new game- SUPER BABY!!!!!
Gotta love the "cape" (aka, backwards bib)

Mom's Birthday

Mom's first birthday with Tyler! We went to dinner at a local wine and coffee cafe, where live music was playing. We had a lovely bruchetta appetizer, and mom had grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner (perfect for a rainy evening)! We finished eating JUST in time for Tyler to become truly tired and in need of swaddling in his crib. We were home just in the nick of time :)
