Fun Fall Weekend

We had a nice weekend- Tyler seems to be feeling better and sleeping more soundly now that he's on new antibiotics for his ear. We were busy- after Friday's pediatrician appointment, mom got a H1N1 vaccine and we ran LOTS of errands. Nana came to visit so that mom and dad could go to the parent's night and open house at daycare (Grandpa Mark and the uncles were in Ocracoke fishing). Thanks to Nana, we were able to go out to a nice dinner and join friends out for drinks afterwards-- this almost never happens anymore!!! We also spent the afternoon in the yard raking up all the fall leaves. Tyler wasn't too thrilled about that...

Tyler in a small pile of leaves... not sure of what to make of this!

Tyler and Nana in his new cap and sweater that she knit for him. Thanks Nana!!!!

Playing with dad after a morning nap-- bedhead!!

Peekaboo!!!

Loving mom and dad :) Smiles all around.

In the yard after the raking was completed (and the leaves still fell...). Tyler seems unsure of the texture of the grass on his feet- he looks uncomfortable!

He kept trying to pick his feet up off the grass

Foot up!!

Mmmm.... leaves

Yummy!

Watching the dog in the next yard bark at us... what's all the racket for??

Mom trying to capture a picture of the tooth bud that's finally starting to show. Maybe we'll get a first tooth before 10 months!!!!

Mad at mom- Stop messing with my face and trying to take my picture!!!

9 month check up

Tyler had his 9 month well baby visit today. Unfortunately, we learned he's not "well"... his ear infection has actually worsened. He's now taking augmentin and will hopefully be feeling better soon. Current stats:

weight: 19 lbs, 10 oz (50%)
height: 29 3/4 inches (75%)
head: 18 inches (75%)

So Tyler's rate of weight gain has decelerated, but he's been sick alot recently and his activity level is way up with all the crawling. We're not worried about this... he still looks healthy and acts happy. No problems!! Pictures to follow soon!

Halloween

We had a busy Halloween!! We were up early and off to the pediatrician- our wonderful doc's held a Saturday morning flu vaccine clinic! Lucky us, they also recieved the H1N1 vaccine the night before, so Tyler's been vaccinated for both seasonal and H1N1!! Of course, he needs a second dose of both in the future, but step one accomplished (finally)!

Tyler is recovered from his ear infection but still has a nasty lingering cough that he picked up in at the sick baby clinic last weekend. Mom is getting much better as well- she picked up a sinus infecion, bronchitis, cough, and ultimately a perforated ear drum. Needless to say, next time Tyler has to go to the Saturday morning sick baby clinic it's dad's turn to go!!! Mom can't handle another week of work as sick as she was last week.

The rest of our day was low-key and fun. We ended up doing a very small round of trick-or-treating with just the immediate neighbors. Tyler's costume could've withstood 30 degree weather, and it was nearly 80 outside!!! He was getting too hot for a long walk, so we changed back into shorts and had drinks on the porch with the neighbors. Not a bad night!

Early morning fun... dressed for the chilly drizzle that began the day as we were off to get flu shots. Tyler took them like a champ!

Crawling off the bed after just getting his lion costum on. He's a quick mover and doesn't seem to grasp heights!

back of the costume

Looking at dad... what is this all about???

Leaving for trick-or-treating

returning from trick-or-treating... hot and miserable

whew!! relief... he was HOT!

Ear Infection #3

We've had a strange last 24 hours around here! Tyler lasted all of about five days as a healthy baby (without even a runny nose). He took a rapid spiral downwards over the last day...

Friday morning, happy with a slight runny nose

Morning playtime, loving the music table. Tyler now pulls himself to standing with ease, but isn't moving any distances yet on his feet.

Tyler tries in vain every day to open these drawers. Thankfully they're heavy and he's not had any success (they hold all dad's DVDs). I sense a future mess!!

After a very cranky afternoon we went on an afternoon walk to try to soothe Tyler. This is his first time in the big swing! He's not looking very confident about this!

Mom got in the swing with him and we had lots of fun. This was the high point of our day. Then we went home and Tyler continued to fuss (we thought because he didn't get a good afternoon nap). He went to bed at 7 and woke up at 9 with a temp of 103!! Even with Tylenol he woke up every two hours, exhausting mom and dad, and the temp never fell below 100.

Tyler's finally resting after a long morning at the pediatrician. Thankfully he tested negative for H1N1 and step.... but we were surrounded by little kids who weren't so lucky. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we didn't pick up a new illness in the waiting room (especially since we were there 1 1/2 hours). "Just" a nasty ear infection... but at least antibiotics should do the trick.
Stay tuned for updates! Oh... and our little man now weighs 20 pounds 7 ounces!

Prayers

We send our love and thoughts to Auntie Barbie and Uncle Jason. We are so sorry for your loss.

Ha Ha... Fun Times :)

So this post makes it seem like we had a much busier day than we actually did :) We left the house around 2:30pm after a "dull" morning of play and naps. We went to buy some shoes, where the lovely sales lady commented on how lucky I was to have such a happy baby ("Most little ones are fussy and crying by now... you are fortunate! He is so happy!"). Tyler loves the balloon he recieved at the store.

Picture in the store with the new kicks.

At home in new shoes playing with dad.

Reaching in his toy basket to find a new toy. One doesn't keep the attention for very long....

Oh, the joys of static electricity. SO much fun...

belly laughs!!

giggle giggle...

hehe... still funny!

first "real" bath in the bathtub without the baby tub. loving the bubbles and new toys!

funny froggy covers the water spout (tyler's favorite shiny thing). protect that noggin'!

(oops... repeat pic. my fault)

So when mom leaves the tv room tyler follows on the way to the kitchen. BUT, he always gets sidetracked by the liquor "cabinent". No amount of "no sirs!" and light hand slaps can deter him from going after the shiny bottles. We have a problem on our hands!!

Oh my!!! Where has all the fun gone??? Such a travesty. Mom and dad got off their lazy bums and moved the stash. What ever will Tyler do now?

Tyler is hot on the pursuit of the cats. He is crawling at a fairly brisk pace now, and he's dying to reach out and touch the kitty cats. One of the favorite new games is the chase under and around the dining room table. So far, Mia and Oscar are undefeated!!

Kitty cats escaped once again! Tyler.... unphased. The chase continues!

New Ride

Tyler has been quite the busy little guy since last time we wrote. He is now crawling up a storm and will follow me from room to room as I move around the house. He can pull himself to standing on occassion, but it's still a shaky new skill. He has already learned that late in the day when he is tired he just needs to crawl up to me and put his hands on my feet to be picked up... probably not a good habit to reinforce, but it's so cute I can't resist! He is all smiles and giggles these days, and is showing lots of love to mom and dad. He definately has a special love for his daddy though- he lights up whenever Austin walks into the room.

Tyler has gone through a few new tricks. He was clapping his hands, and saying dada... but now he's decided to move on. (In earlier days he has gone through razzing, "a-boo", and "a-tsss"). I'm not sure if Tyler is storing these new skills in his brain as he learns new things or if they're just short-lived phases (each new noise lasts about three days and then vanishes). Time will tell- maybe one day he'll just start speaking in sentences!

Tyler's playtime this morning before leaving with dad for work and daycare. It's supposed to be chilly and rainy here the next few days... brrr!!

This is the first morning that Tyler get's to "walk" out the door with daddy. Prior to this morning he would leave in his infant car seat, but Tyler's quickly outgrowing it. We've only bought one new seat so far, so he'll still be in his old seat in mom's car until we get a second big seat. We've probably got a few good weeks left before Tyler's officially outgrown his infant seat- 22 pounds or 29 inches. We're almost there!!

Tyler's not so sure about his new seat!! He's looking at dad saying, "I don't know about this!!" Hopefully he'll grow to love it- he's potentially in it until he's 65 pounds!!! We'll switch it to front facing sometime in his second year.

Go Heels!?!

Unfortunately, Tyler's new UNC outfit did not bring us the luck that the UNC onesie brought us last year during basketball season. However, we had a GREAT weekend back in Chapel Hill. We got to see friends that we hadn't seen in far too long. Tyler was awesome on Saturday- we were able to stay for the entire game AND go meet Chip and Jason to watch the NC State game at the grill. Sadly both our teams faired poorly. Better luck next time?!?

Friday morning before leaving for the pediatrician (he adores the cats now). Tyler is still fighting illness. His latest diagnosis is bronchiolitis, probably brought on by RSV. He's back on the albuterol nebulizer four times a day, along with antibiotics and steriods. Maybe we'll nip this for good this time???

At Barbie and Jason's house.... Lily LOVED Tyler. We're breaking her in so that she'll be ready for baby girl Warren. She's getting so much better with every visit!! Tyler just giggles as he recieved lots of slobbery dog kisses :)

PS... this is at 6:30am. Why so early when we ususally sleep "late" on the weekends?? No rest for weary mom!

Lilly kisses

Oh, we are starting way too young :( We are such bad influences!! Hopefully child services will not see this and take our baby boy away!! At least he's only interested in the packaging?

Bad influence continues? Thankfully he just likes to gum the can and isn't actually tasting (promise)!!!

Tyler's catching up with his first girlfriend, Miss McLean. Note his ghetto stroller!!! We bought a cheap stroller to take to the game in such a hurry that mom didn't realize we only had three wheels instead of four!!! Thankfully the store accepted it as a return the next day.

Cheering on the heels with dad. Better luck next time, we hope.

SO sleepy!!! After halftime Tyler got fussy, but eventually fell asleep after taking a walk with mom. He slept the entire second half until we left the game. Such a good little boy- a successful first UNC game. Thanks buddy!!

After the game we met the boys at Sunset Grill to cheer on the Pack. Sadly, they didn't fare any better than our Heels. But Tyler loved all the special attention and had fun eating his first meal in a big boy highchair.

Why are all these men yelling at the TV during my meal???

Getting some love from Kristin, who seemed to be missing Winston (who was home with grandma). Thanks to everyone for such a great weekend, and sorry for waking you up early on your weekend!!
